Latest release: Sorceress 10th Anniversary Edition

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Sorceress, OPETH will reissue their acclaimed 12th studio album on September 25, 2026 via RPM.

Originally released in 2016, Sorceress marked another bold chapter in the band's ever-evolving catalogue, combining progressive rock ambition, heavy riffing, folk influences and atmospheric songwriting into one of OPETH's most distinctive records.

The anniversary edition features a brand-new mix by longtime collaborator Stefan Boman, who previously worked with the band on In Cauda Venenum and The Last Will And Testament. The new edition has also been mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. Revisiting the original recordings a decade later, Boman and Åkerfeld carefully refined the album while remaining faithful to its original character, bringing greater clarity, balance and depth to the songs.

Looking back on the record, Åkerfeldt describes Sorceress as “a hidden gem” within OPETH's discography.
“It feels like I wrote the songs for Sorceress in a different lifetime, but it’s really not that old. I think this record is a bit of a hidden gem in our discography, at least for my personal taste. There are a few segments I don’t particularly enjoy these days, for various reasons, but it certainly contains some top shelf Opeth material, albeit most of them are obscure songs (?)”

The title track remains one of the band's most enduring live staples, driven by a deceptively simple but highly effective riff that continues to ignite audiences around the world.

“We’ve played ‘Sorceress’ to death, and it’s always a relief when it’s time for that song while on stage. We call the ”chug” bit the ”stupid riff”. It’s barely a riff, actually. It’s ”A-chug-D” (repeat). But it’s very, very effective, and dare I say…catchy? We always get the crowds going with this one.”

Beyond the title track, Åkerfeldt points to several deeper cuts as personal highlights, including fan favourites that have often remained overlooked within the band's vast catalogue.“
